I Need a Mentor!

Sat Nov 26, 2005, 4:44 AM
I have decided to find a talented person (perhaps in my Friends) who could teach me some basics about photoshop.
Yes...i'm fed up to be Frustrated to see some Artwork that represents what i feel and i am not able to turn it myself in good works.
No...i don't like at all ma poor manips...

I have some big problems with the blur/blend effect to get a painting aspect and not just a photo-manip...you know what i mean?

PS: Yes, i have already tried to learn more in Photomanip, reading some Tutorials but my big problem is they're All in English language and i'm a poor French so sometimes i don't understand some words or sentences and i can't follow the progression of explanations...:(

Well, i think Everyone is already too busy in his Artwork so i'm searching some french tuts to help me.

Probably the best thing to do is get together a list of things you feel you need help on and an example of a work and ask for help  that way you get insight from all of us  Probably some people are better in photoshop doing some things, and others are better at doing others :)

What version of PS are you running too?

Thanks for your response

I use Photoshop CS since one week...
As an example i could give you the [link] of my last fav ;)
I don't know how to get such a painting appearance, perhaps only a work of tones with a blur effect, or a filter...

I wish I could help, but I'm not too good doing manips, I'm still learning to get even better, and also I have PS 7.0, so I really don't know how CS works... But if you need some help or answers, I could try and help out in the best way I can

You are so kind
Well...i have always worked with PS7 so no problem :)
Then...in my fav of Samhain there is the general aspect i'm looking for: it really seems like a digital painting, not a photmanip.
I am VERY Bad in creating background and work on it, i don't master the tones+blur tool, that's it my pb i think...

hmm, well in Samhain I just played around actually with textures of different kinds and then working to get the colours right, and then I used the blur tool some places so it merges better together. The biggest problem for me, I think, is the lightning. But I always try to remember where the source of light comes from and then use different teqhniques to make it look good. :-)

You can ask me any question you'd like and I'll do my best to help. If you come to Illinois, I'll teach you 100 percent on what I know :)

Maybe God wants us to meet a few wrong people before meeting the right one, so that when we finally meet the person, we will know how to be grateful.
