QUANTITY doesn't mean QUALITY

Mon Aug 22, 2005, 6:07 PM
EXPLANATION :blahblah:

When i see xxx comments or Favs about a Deviation of a Popular Deviant which is really Rich and Full of details (many hours of work) it is Normal to read a lot of comments or to see a lot of favs about it.
We are Ok for that point.

When the same "Popular" Deviant submit an average work...so simple (for example: just a photo with a different color, a basic retouch and a beautiful ornament), i often read as many comments/favs as before.
Just because it is a Big Page-Viewed Person or for a reason of interest :hump:
I am not agree with that (be careful i'm not talking about circle of friends that give always support)

When a Talented Deviant but Not popular submit a new deviation, i can wait a lot of time to have rewards (comments/favs) about his work. He will have probably...in the year.
What a pity for him :cries:

When a Beginner Deviant has a gallery with no comments or not enough...i am wonder what happens?
why can't he have at least encouragements? That's what he need or just post any comment with Suggestions (no matter good or bad), No?
Ok ok...there is too many people in DA to take time of look here and there and overthere... :+devwatch:
(the only positive advantage here is to be sure that comments/favs are Sincere...)

But think about Beginners (not talented) cause they need you to (want to) progress

PS1: I am not talking about my own case. Conscious that i have not enough time in my life to perfect my artwork and hurry up my Submissions (only 12 in one year lol), i'm not expecting anything of anybody. I understand the Desertland in my gallery.
PS2: Sorry for my bad English ^^;

I am in total agreement with your thoughts. I often wonder about that myself. With the average artist where is the critiquing so one can improve to be a better artist. All I read is the same old replies over and over again; with very few tips on how to improve. It is so disheartening. :(

it is unfortunate that people can't be more civil minded, but unfortunately this is how the world works, and we are all a guilty party. for it is the law of survival, the fittest shall win. so people flock towards those that are the best looking, the strongest, the most successful, the richest and yes, the most talented... why? because everybody wants a piece of the pie, people want connections, popularity and fame, because it makes them more desireable to others. it is so in the wild, so its not surprising that we have it ingrained in us as well.
